About The Port

The capital city of Liberia, and the country's main port facility. It was artificially created on Bushrod Island in 1948. The port enjoys Freeport status; in the free zone, cargo can be stored in transit, free of duty, pending re-export to other West African states. Monrovia is the only port in Liberia that has the handling facilities and equipment necessary for humanitarian and commercial usage.

On the Atlantic coast at Cape Mesurado, it lies geographically within Montserrado County. Approx. 50 n.m. SE of the border with Sierra Leone.
