The Port of Durban is not only the biggest and busiest in South Africa and the continent of Africa, but it is the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere including Australia and New Zealand! A natural harbour it has some 50 berths receiving Container, Cargo, Coal, Fuel, RoRo's, Fruit & Veg ships and Luxury Liners. The Port also has a dry dock and small naval base. At times up to 300 ships enter and leave Port a week. There are plans to build a new passenger terminal to accommodate the passengers of the luxury liners that pass through our Port. Our Port has a Seafarer's Mission. Durban Seafarer's Mission The physical address is; 1 Seafarers Road, Bayhead, Durban 4001 and the Email address is; It is open 10am - 11pm Mon - Fri, 5pm - 11pm Sat/Sun. Transport is provided by phoning (031) 466-1326 or 0823784486. Saturday Mass is at 7:30pm and Sunday Evening Church Service is also 7:30pm, both services held in the Mission Chapel by one of our Port Chaplains.

About The Port

South Africa's largest port, protected by north and south breakwaters. These are 335 m. and 700 m. respectively. Handles containers, general, dry and liquid bulk, passengers, project and heavy-lift. Crude oil is handled at SBM, approx. 1.3 m. offshore.

On the east coast, 680 n.m. NE of Cape Agulhas.
