About The Port

An artificially protected harbour, partially built on reclaimed land. Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is one of the largest ports in India and handles most types of cargo including passengers, Ro-Ro, dry and liquid bulk, containers and general cargo. The three main port areas are Dr. Ambedkar Dock, Jawahar Dock and Bharathi Dock.

On the east coast, in the State of Tamil Nadu, 290 km. east of Bangalore.
